A cool catch

Recently, I have caught some cool flicks on video,
I know 'cool' is a much abused word, it is so randomly
used today to mean a bizarre range of things......
yet it can often fit as an apt qualifier when one has to
group an otherwise disparate but appealing group
of objects, and, here, I am using the term for the very
same reason...... it's a wide range of films, it's an
impressive array nonetheless. Each of these films has entertained
me, and I am sure it would entertain all cine-buffs, in
different ways though. They represent our times, as the makers
have made them in recent times; even when they represent
different periods from history, they have contemporary
treatment, and ethos. Some these films provoke, make us question;
some of these touch just our hearts, our souls, with some
kind of magical power. Whatever be the genre, each of these films
strikes a chord with the viewer and engages him to appreciate
life as such.
I hope my readers will join in, to pour their views
on some or all of these films. Here they are:

360 (2011)

Bel Ami (2012)

The Conspirator (2010)

Salmon Fishing in the Yemen (2011)

Womb (2010)

Hanna (2011)

Detention (2011)

Margaret (2011)

The Raven (2012)

The Hunger Games (2012)

The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel (2011)

Donkey Punch (2008)

A really cool catch, dude! I have seen all of the films you have named, I wish you had poured more on each. Which of these is your personal favorite? Plz pick one, let's see if it matches mine.

Seems like you are having good fun at the movies, I mean @home... with the movies. Of late, I have been catching up with the classics from the 50's and 60's, so I have a lot of catching up to do with the recent flicks. From the ones you have mentioned, I have seen 'The Hunger Games' and liked it, but I have to say the book, actually the series, is far more rewarding...... and naturally so.

Interesting picks! I wonder which of these will feature among your top ten picks for the year. I hope at least some of these win you totally and completely with their appeal by the year-end:) hahaha

It's a pity that barring 'The Hunger Games' and 'The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel' none of these films released or are likely to release in Kolkata. Three of those titles may have been blocked from wide release because of provocative and explicit content, but the others at least should have. Thank goodness, the films are available for private viewings on video.

Lucky you!:)
Would eagerly await the year-end's top ten selected by you. I hope you will get to see many more interesting films by then.

Need to catch them all, for sure. I have only seen 'The Hunger Games' and 'The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel'. Liked the first one immensely, the latter has some fine performances but is cliched on the whole.

Must have had a great time watching all the films mentioned. And you must be watching many more in the days to come. But, tell me one thing, why do most of your favorite films have to be gritty or scary? Is it because you like intense films more than the lighthearted ones?

I loved THE HUNGER GAMES and DETENTION, and Josh Hutcherson is amazing in both the films!
