'Rockstar' is coming to rock us!

ROCKSTAR is going to be Ranbir Kapoor's next release.
It's releasing on the 11th of November.
The music from the soundtrack is a rage already.
The film stars Ranbir Kapoor, Nargis Fakhri, Aditi Rao Hyadri and many others.

Directed by Imtiaz Ali, it's the most awaited film of the year.

And Ranbir seems to be banking on it in a big way.

The film boasts of brilliant visuals & A.R.Rahman's fusion score.

The story is supposed to be an emotional-cum-musical journey.

Since August, the promos have been making us expectant in a big way.

I sincerely hope that the film becomes a rewarding experience for all.

Major portions have been shot in Kashmir, at various scenic locations.

The city of Delhi features in a big way too.

The sequence at Nizamuddin Dargah is supposedly an awe-inspiring one.

Many of the costumes worn in the film have been designed by Aki Narula.

The attention to details is likely to contribute majorly to the narrative.

Ranbir too has spared no efforts to become the character.

Nargis Fakhri plays the role of a Kashmiri Pandit girl.

Ranbir himself has admitted that the presence of Nargis in the film is very special.

Mohit Chauhan has lent his voice to several songs of the film.

The soulful lyrics have been penned by Irshad Kamil.

People would want to watch it for all kinds of reasons.

A personal reason for me: Late Shammi Kapoor's final screen appearance.

Can't wait to catch this scene Ron has with the legend.

I wish all the best to the cast & crew of the film. Can't wait to watch it now!

Ranbir Kapoor is a true rockstar. Hnece, it is quite natural that he gets to portray a rockstar in a film. Here's wishing him all the best for his new film.

This time I'm the first to comment :). I guess it's all in the timing, which happened to be just right, ha ha ha.

Brilliantly collated stills! It's a superb promo post actually :P :P. 'Rockstar' is definitely one of the most awaited Hindi releases this year. Ranbir seems to look and be the part in the promos.

The visuals look really stunning. Who's done the camera? The auditorium Ranbir is singing in in one of the photos seems to be in London, right? And I hope Shammi saab will impress in the cameo.

Thank you, Anirban & Raghav, for commenting.
Much of the details about the project have been kept under wraps, for obvious reasons.
Am really excited by the promos, so, couldn't help going ga-ga with the sharing of the genuine excitement, Anirban. Hope you understand.
By the way, Anil Mehta has done the cinematography, and, undoubtedly, he's one of the best cinematographers today.
Some other details that had been omitted by me in the post: the film has been produced by Shree Ashtavinayak Cine Vision Ltd. and Eros International, who are the distributors as well. Aarti Bajaj has edited the film. Such incidental details are available on the Net.
Raghav, you have got it bang on; Ron is indeed the best person to have been tagged a 'true rockstar'.... Ron rocks!;)

Thanks for this beautiful post, Anindo.
I am all eager for this film.
A film like this excites me more than a 'Ra. One' or a 'Don2'. I could not help having goosegumps when I saw the intensely emotional scenes of Ranbir's in the promos.
I bet 'Rockstar' will fulfil our collective expectations.

Here's my gut feeling: ROCKSTAR will rock largely because of the love story..... despite documenting the traversing of the protagonist's journey as a musician/rocker, it's the passionate affair he has with the girl, and the bottlenecks and the hurdles, the trysts-trials-tribulations therein that'll be the crux of the tale.
I have listened to the soundtrack album, and, I'd like to say that more than the songs standing strong on their own, they should serve the cinematic demand in a big way.
I am too eager to catch the film in theaters too!

While almost every other filmmaker is either making a frothy romance or a zany comedy or a brazen actioner, I'd say it's gutsy of Imtiaz Ali to invest so much of energy, and much else, into an intensely romantic film which tries to graph musically the inner growth of the eponymous character, played by Ranbir Kapoor.
I am more than anxious about this film. I'm excited to the core.
And, I would expect more buzz to be generated on this comments thread once the film releases. Till then, I'm just keeping my fingers crossed.

Nargis looks heavenly...... Ranbir looks every bit the character, Jordan..... and the songs of Rahman reverberate to create the desired impact....... I'm anticipating one more smash-hit from Imtiaz Ali.

The concert (promoting the film; feat. A. R. Rahman along with actor Ranbir Kapoor, singer Mohit Chauhan and othrs) may have evoked mixed reactions, but I'm hoping that the film will be appreciated and liked by all. It is Imtiaz Ali's labor of love after all, and I've heard that the project went through a whole lot of upheavals while in the making. Wishing 'Rockstar' all the BEST!!!!!

Thank you, Iman.
Here's the verdict on Rockstar:
Rockstar is surely one of the better Indian films made in recent times.
Well, the film, in spite of being rooted to the mainstream genre, reaches heights of excellence - largely because of the robust performance of its lead actor: Ranbir Kapoor. In the technical departments, the film scores well, as expected. The story might not have had much to offer in terms of freshness but the conceptualization had plenty to boast of. Director Imtiaz Ali's vision and execution always makes the discerning viewer sit up and take note of the nuances and the details portrayed. This time too, like Jab We Met, he gets them right, mostly. The music of the film and the rich visuals, as have been noted by many, grow on us. The film having won major awards at the prominent film awards ceremonies in the country is nothing short of a major pat in the back for the makers, and is reassuring enough for all of us, who have loved the film.
