Defendit Numerus

Defendit Numerus (There is safety in numbers)

"The mathematical sciences particularly exhibit order, symmetry, and limitation; and these are the greatest forms of the beautiful."
(Metaphysica, 3-1078b)

Check out these cool numerical formations, resembling staircases:

1 x 8 + 1 = 9
12 x 8 + 2 = 98
123 x 8 + 3 = 987
1234 x 8 + 4 = 9876
12345 x 8 + 5 = 98765
123456 x 8 + 6 = 987654
1234567 x 8 + 7 = 9876543
12345678 x 8 + 8 = 98765432
123456789 x 8 + 9 = 987654321

1 x 9 + 2 = 11
12 x 9 + 3 = 111
123 x 9 + 4 = 1111
1234 x 9 + 5 = 11111
12345 x 9 + 6 = 111111
123456 x 9 + 7 = 1111111
1234567 x 9 + 8 = 11111111
12345678 x 9 + 9 = 111111111
123456789 x 9 +10= 1111111111

9 x 9 + 7 = 88
98 x 9 + 6 = 888
987 x 9 + 5 = 8888
9876 x 9 + 4 = 88888
98765 x 9 + 3 = 888888
987654 x 9 + 2 = 8888888
9876543 x 9 + 1 = 88888888
98765432 x 9 + 0 = 888888888

1 x 1 = 1
11 x 11 = 121
111 x 111 = 12321
1111 x 1111 = 1234321
11111 x 11111 = 123454321
111111 x 111111 = 12345654321
1111111 x 1111111 = 1234567654321
11111111 x 11111111 = 123456787654321
111111111 x 111111111=123456789 87654321

Brilliant, isn't it?
I wish life too had as much symmetry & predictability as in Mathematics!

According to an old Indian saying, "As the crest of a peacock assumes a place of pride in its resplendent beauty, mathematics too does the same at the head of all knowledge".

hi buddy!!!

it's indeed brilliant & nothing to wonder, life is as symmetrical as mathematics just the difference is we can not calculate(predict) the future but at the end of the day if you start counting you'll have the easy solution of all the eqation(life)............

i wish we really can predict our life just like a simple staircase algorithm.....

our lives are perpendicular, each point has lead to our intersection. i hope you can see through skewed logic,
& realize the potential of congruent love thats spreads everywhere.......... :)

Cool mathematical funda!
Here's a funny Maths Game for u:-)
Write down the following 8 digit number on a piece of paper:

1 2 3 4 5 6 7 9

Then ask a friend to circle one of the digits.
Suppose the circled number is 7.

You then ask your friend to multiply the 8 digit number by 63, and magically the result ends up being:

1 2 3 4 5 6 7 9
x 6 3
=7 7 7 7 7 7 7 7 7

with the answer as a row of the chosen number 7!

The Secret:
When your friend circles a number, you need to multiply the chosen number by 9 in your head - if 3 was chosen you would work out 3 x 9 = 27. Then you need to ask your friend to multiply the 8 digit number by the number you have just worked out. In the case of 3 being chosen you ask your friend to multiply 12345679 by 27 and you magically get the answer 333333333.

Do u know:
Life, a mathenatical game (quantitative maths) was invented by the mathematician John Conway in 1970. It is an example of cellular automation. He choose the rules carefully after trying many other possibilities, some of which caused the cells to die too fast and others which caused too many cells to be born. Life balances these tendencies, making it hard to tell whether a pattern will die out completely, form a stable population, or grow forever.

There has been much recent interest in cellular automata, a field of mathematical research. Life is one of the simplest cellular automata to have been studied, but many others have been invented, often to simulate systems in the real world.

In addition to the original rules, Life can be played on other kinds of grids with more complex patterns. Life is probably the most often programmed computer game in existence. There are many different variations and information on the web.
